It's the fifth anniversary of the 21-Day Fix this year! While, I wasn't introduced to the world of coaching until after that program had already launched, it was STILL insanely popular when I began my journey to helping other with their health and fitness, like I had done.
My name is Rachel Harvey, and I'm a recovering sugar addict.
I began my health journey in the fall of 2012, after the passing of my father to pancreatic cancer. My mother had passed away suddenly from autoimmune and liver issues in 2010. Here I was, a mom of a toddler and a baby, 35lbs overweight, and left an orphan at the age of 29. I realized my genetics were not on my side. I HAD TO TAKE CONTROL OF MY OWN HEALTH.
I thought running was a solution, but after running my first half marathon, STILL 35lbs overweight, I knew my nutrition had to change.
Soon after, I learned about clean eating and starting marathon training. The work HAD to be done in the kitchen, not just the gym. I lost those 35lbs in about 4 months of good nutrition from whole foods and cutting out the junk and sugar that had consumed my life. It didn't take long for EVERYONE to ask what I was doing. I said, "Eat clean and run." It fell on deaf ears. No one understood what I had done and I didn't have a system or tools to help them achieve the same results.
Then, I found out that I could become a coach and help others through a program called, "21 Day Fix," which mirrored exactly what I had done. THIS was the answer. Whole foods, plus portion control with little color-coded containers.
Injury had sidelined me, and I was eating too many "clean carbs." I gained a little back during that time, leading up to when I started 21 Day Fix. I decided to go "ALL IN" and see what would happen.
