Ah, school days.
Fall is coming. Summer is fading.
We spend so much time over the summer enjoying a more care-free schedule, adding in activities we don't have time for otherwise, and worrying less about the chore charts.
But now it's time to get back into the swing of things. Homework, sports, music lessons, PTA meetings, carpool/bus schedules, paperwork, doctor appointments, and the list goes on and on.
If you are like me, you are a busy mom. You have a husband, kids, house, work, and maybe even a hobby or two. It's just plain tough to fit everything into those 24 little hours.
You need a plan.
Whether it be a meal plan for the week or a wall calendar for the family activities, it helps to have a plan to ward off those feelings of being overwhelmed by it all.
Ok, so maybe you have your family routine mapped out. Now what?
You need a plan for YOU. That's right, YOU!
I know you are busy, you are taking care of a million things and some super important tiny humans need you, but that's the point. Your family needs YOU! And not just the frazzled, whatever is leftover mom, but the mom who has more energy and life because she takes 30 minutes every day to care for herself!
30 minutes. That's it. I bet you have spent at least 30 minutes checking email, facebook, and reading this blog post. What you COULD do in 30 minutes is work on creating a healthier you. No, it's not selfish. No, it's not going to take away from your family. 30 minutes will GIVE you more energy, a better attitude, and lasting results because it is a LOT easier to stick with 30 minutes a day than drive across town and spend 60-90 minutes in a gym.
Ok, so you have 30 minutes, right? What about another 5 minutes to put together a nutrient-dense on-the-go meal each morning? Do you have 5 minutes to make sure your body has the healthiest meal of the day? Are you willing to challenge yourself for 30 days and see if it makes any difference in how you feel? More energy? Less cravings?
Are you tired of not knowing what to buy at the grocery store? Would you like help with meal planning and learning how to budget for whole foods for your family's health?
What about accountability? Would you be interested in a FREE coach and FREE accountability group that will encourage you to stay on track so you can BE the best YOU for yourself and your family?
Are you ready to change for good? No fad diets, no crazy exercises, no gym memberships. I can help, but you need to be ready. It's time to get into a new routine. Fall into Routine Challenge Group kicks off on Monday, September 14, 2015!
YOU ARE WORTH IT.
When I was pregnant with Owen, I had this sense of impending doom. I prayed against that feeling quite often, and tried to write it off as hormones.
See, nothing BAD had ever happened in my life up to that point. I felt it was UNFAIR for some people to go through so much and for me to go through so little. I prayed so hard for that baby boy to be healthy and happy and perfect.
And he was.
I had no idea what would happen just sixteen short months later.
My world collapsed when my Mom passed away after a sudden illness. Six weeks from "not feeling well" to funeral.
One year later, my Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
17 months after that, my Dad joined my Mom, and left my sister and I as orphans. Yes, we had our own families by then, but still orphans.
The pain doesn't go away magically over time. Events, dates on the calendar, songs, and stories bring the grief flooding back.
Part of this story is my WHY.
I run to combat genetics.
I focus on nutrition to give my family health.
I advocate for orphans because I am one.
I didn't know that my story would end up this way. I could never have guessed the "doom" that really WOULD come. BUT--I don't have to stay in that dark place.
And neither do YOU.
Yes, YOU. I know you have a story, too. Your story is not mine, but if you have ever been in a dark place, you understand
August 31st I am joining a different kind of challenge group. This group will provide support to break through the darkness and gain clarity through healthy nutrition and fitness. We are going to work on creating a healthy body, mind, and soul.

I am honored to take this next step in my journey.
So I started 21-Day Fix as a way to detox my body after vacation, and to learn more about it so that I could help my customers and coaches on their journeys.
I wasn't sure that the little 30-minute workouts would actually do much for me, since I am used to long-distance running and weight training. I started the program on July 13, and ran only 26 miles during that month, as opposed to my normal 70-100 miles per month. I really wasn't sure that I would be able to handle a long run in the same way, since I wasn't putting in the amount of running that I had done in previous months.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that after doing the program for 20 days, I ran a 10-mile run for the first time since June 13. My pace was much better than expected and recovery was better than usual, too. I think the 21-Day Fix program really worked my whole body in new ways, and I didn't even realize that it was working!
I am excited to see how beachbody products will help me reach my time goal for my fall half marathon.
Wife. Mother. Runner. Coach. Adoption Advocate. I strive to share HOPE through my journey and help others reach their goals.
